QuteMol " is an open source (GPL), interactive, high quality molecular visualization system. QuteMol exploits the current GPU capabilities through OpenGL shaders to offers an array of innovative visual effects. QuteMol visualization techniques are aimed at improving clarity and an easier understanding of the 3D shape and structure of large molecules or complex proteins ." QuteMol was developed by Marco
Tarini and Paolo Cignoni of the Visual Computing
Lab at ISTI - CNR.
MeshLab - " is an open source (which means that a programmer can modify this software), portable, and extendible system for the processing and editing of unstructured 3D triangular meshes. The system is aimed to help the processing of the typical not-so-small unstructured models arising in 3D scanning, providing a set of tools for editing, cleaning, healing, inspecting, rendering and converting this kind of meshes. The project is supported by the European Network of Excellence Epoch and Aimatshape (...) and it is available for Windows, Linux and MacOSX (intel only). " Some features: Mesh Cleaning Filters, geometry-from-photo-sequence reconstruction, Remeshing filters, Colorization/Inspection filters, automatic hole filling, Interactive Mesh Painting, Extendible plugins based architecture, Large rendering for high quality printing, re-playable history, etc.
World
Wind - this
is an open source
alternative to Google
Earth produced by
the NASA's laboratories.
This 3D earth viewer
system have same
main options than
Google Earth. It
was started in 2002
at the Learning
